Poshmark vs Mercari Fees (2026): Which Lets You Keep More?

Short answer: Mercari is cheaper for almost every sale. Mercari's seller fee is 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, with no payment processing fee. Poshmark takes 20% of the listing price on sales of $15 or more, or a flat $2.95 under $15. On a $50 sale you keep $45.00 on Mercari and $40.00 on Poshmark. The exception is when you offer free shipping on Mercari. You pay that label yourself, while on Poshmark the buyer always pays it, so for cheap items Poshmark can come out ahead.

All numbers below come from our Poshmark fee calculator and Mercari fee calculator, using rates checked on October 24, 2026 against each platform's official fee page (linked at the bottom).

Fees side by side at common prices

Item price only, with shipping paid by the buyer (so it's not part of your payout on either app):

Sale price Poshmark fee You keep (Poshmark) Mercari fee You keep (Mercari)
$10 $2.95 $7.05 $1.00 $9.00
$14 $2.95 $11.05 $1.40 $12.60
$15 $3.00 $12.00 $1.50 $13.50
$25 $5.00 $20.00 $2.50 $22.50
$50 $10.00 $40.00 $5.00 $45.00
$100 $20.00 $80.00 $10.00 $90.00

At every price Mercari's fee is half of Poshmark's or less. Under $15, Poshmark's $2.95 flat fee hurts the most: on a $10 sale it takes 29.5% of the price.

Worked example: a $50 jacket on each app

Say you paid $12 for a jacket and sell it for $50.

On Poshmark, the buyer pays the shipping label on top of your price, so your only fee is 20%:

Example: Poshmark sale, calculated with the Poshmark fee calculator
Item price$50.00
Commission (20%)−$10.00
Total Poshmark fees−$10.00
Payout from Poshmark$40.00
Item cost−$12.00
Profit$28.00

On Mercari with buyer-paid shipping, there's a catch: Mercari's 10% also applies to the shipping the buyer pays. With a $7 label paid by the buyer, the fee is 10% of $57:

Example: Mercari sale, calculated with the Mercari fee calculator
Item price$50.00
Shipping paid by buyer$7.00
Selling fee (10% of item + shipping)−$5.70
Total Mercari fees−$5.70
Payout from Mercari$51.30
Item cost−$12.00
Your shipping label−$7.00
Profit$32.30

The $7 the buyer pays covers the label, and you pay 70¢ in fees on it. Your profit is $32.30 on Mercari vs $28.00 on Poshmark, so Mercari wins by $4.30.

When Poshmark comes out ahead

Mercari lets you offer "free shipping," which means you pay the label. Many sellers do this because it helps listings sell. Poshmark doesn't give you that choice: the buyer always pays shipping, on top of your price.

So for a fair comparison of a free-shipping Mercari listing, subtract the label from your Mercari payout. On a $50 sale with a $7 label you pay:

  • Mercari: $50 − $5.00 fee − $7.00 label = $38.00
  • Poshmark: $50 − $10.00 fee = $40.00

Rule of thumb: if you pay for shipping on Mercari, Poshmark wins whenever your label costs more than 10% of the sale price, and that happens on most items under about $70. Free shipping can still be worth it if it helps the item sell faster. To see this for your own item, enter it in the comparison tool with your real label cost.

Fees the buyer pays (and why they matter to you)

Neither app takes these from your payout, but they change what the buyer sees at checkout:

  • Mercari adds a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping (for listings created or updated since January 6, 2025). It replaced the old payment processing fee.
  • Poshmark buyers pay the prepaid shipping label. Poshmark handles payment processing out of its 20%.

If two listings have the same price, a Mercari buyer who pays shipping will see a slightly higher total. Keep that in mind when you price.

Getting paid

  • Poshmark: withdrawals by direct deposit are free.
  • Mercari: direct deposit has been free since January 6, 2025 (a failed deposit costs $2), and Instant Pay to a debit card costs $3 per cash-out.

Which should you use?

  • Low-priced items (under $15): Mercari, as long as the buyer pays shipping. Poshmark's $2.95 flat fee wipes out the profit on a $5–$10 item.
  • Mid-priced clothing ($15–$70) where you'd offer free shipping: Poshmark often keeps you more. Run both numbers.
  • Anything over about $70, or non-fashion items: Mercari's 10% almost always wins, and Mercari's buyers shop many more categories than clothing.

Many resellers cross-list on both. When you do, track which platform each item actually sold on and what you netted. Our Profit Tracker does that per item and per platform, so you can see which app earns more over time instead of guessing.

FAQ

Is Mercari cheaper than Poshmark?

Usually, yes. Mercari charges 10% of the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and Poshmark charges 20% (or $2.95 under $15). On a $50 sale you keep $45.00 on Mercari and $40.00 on Poshmark when the buyer pays shipping.

Does Mercari still charge a payment processing fee?

Not to sellers. Since January 6, 2025, new and updated listings have no payment processing fee. Buyers pay a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee instead.

What is Poshmark's fee on a sale under $15?

A flat $2.95. At $15 and above, Poshmark takes 20% of the listing price.

Does Mercari charge fees on shipping?

Yes. The 10% selling fee applies to the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. If you offer free shipping, the fee is on the item price only, but you pay for the label.

Which app is better for selling clothes?

On fees alone Mercari wins. But because Poshmark buyers always pay shipping, Poshmark can leave you more on $15–$70 items you'd otherwise ship free on Mercari. Compare both with the Poshmark and Mercari calculators.
